Lady Bulldogs earn AAC win over Union 5-1

ATHENS, TN – The Tennessee Wesleyan University Women's soccer team earned its first home conference win after a 5-1 victory over Union College.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to a 3-2 overall record after the win and are now 2-0 in conference play this season.

TWU eagerly jumped to a 1-0 lead in last night's contest and never looked back. Chloe Rootes booted in the first goal for the Lady Bulldogs shortly into the 3rd minute of the game.

Siobhan Patterson scored a goal at the 23:23 mark and helped send TWU into the half with a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs kept rolling after halftime as Lauren Cunningham assisted Livia Walker for TWU's third goal of the contest in the 55th minute.

Union scored their first goal of the contest in the 75th minute cutting the TWU lead 3-1. The Lady Bulldogs were able to respond quickly, however, putting them back up by three with a goal by Rachel Bean off an assist by Samantha Green.

Kelsey Brown added an insurance goal after an assist by Rachel Bean helped secure the 5-1 match victory for the Lady Bulldogs.

TWU's strong offensive game was a result of a collective effort by the team as five Bulldogs accounted for all of the team's five goals in the contest.

The Lady Bulldogs with be back in action Friday as they travel to Bluefield, Virginia, to take on conference opponent Bluefield College. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
