Men's Soccer - Fri, Nov. 4, 2011

The Tennessee Wesleyan College men's soccer team finished their regular season campaign on Saturday with an impressive 1-0 win at NCAA II Berry College, it was the first home defeat Berry had suffered in eighteen home games. This win capped one of the most successful regular seasons in the program's history. They ended the season 13-4 and at their highest were ranked #24 in the nation. TWC head coach Stephen Lyons said of the season "it was a good year, we beat some very good teams along the way and to be ranked nationally was a big achievement".

The season isn't over for the TWC men's program, post season play starts on Saturday against Virginia Intermont College in the quarter final of the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament.

Lyons said of the upcoming game "the season really starts now, we play VI in the opening round of the conference tournament and we are not looking past them". TWC beat VI 4-0 in the regular season, but can take nothing for granted in the play offs. Last season TWC were again ranked #2 and were defeated in the quarter finals by another #7 seed in Reinhardt University.

The game against VI kicks off at 2.30pm at the TWC soccer field, come out and show your support. If you cannot make it to the game it is available online via the TWC website http://www.livestream.com/tennesseewesleyan
