Lady Bulldogs Soccer Coach Naomi Clarke has announced her first set of signees for the 2009-10 season.
Daelyn Swafford, a forward from Smryna, TN committed last fall and signed before the Christmas break with the Tennessee Wesleyan Women's Soccer Team. Daelyn played for Smyrna High School as well as competitive club soccer at TNFC and has gained various offensive awards throughout her high school career as well as being named to the Area & District teams her final 2 years. "Daelyn is the type of forward we need at TWC, she is quick and feisty, smart and determined, and deadly in front of goal. I look forward to what she will bring to our offense this upcoming season," says Clarke.
Rebecca, Blair, and Kathleen Kent have this week signed letters of intent to play at TWC. The triplets hailing from Hixson, TN played school soccer at Hixson High School and competitive club soccer at Redoubt Soccer Club.
"Rebecca is an attacking minded player that has experience at both forward and midfield, and has even slid back to defense in her career as needed. She is a strong, solid player that moves well to receive the ball and has a great shot," says Clarke, "I'm looking forward to her power in front of goal next season." Rebecca was most recently named to the Chattanooga Best of the Preps 2nd Team for her senior year's performance at high school and gained All State honors her junior year.
"Blair is a goalkeeper and is a tough athlete. She will put herself in front of any ball coming at her and has the ability to move laterally in goal." Blair was named Defensive Player of the Year this past fall season with Hixson High School as they came off their best season in years.
Kathleen is a defender and was named Most Valuable Player her junior year at Hixson High School. "She is a smart defender that wins balls and plays simple. She is a strong player with agile and sharpness to her game and I am looking forward to her competing for a starting spot on our team in the fall," says Clarke, "All three girls are quality players with a good first touch, good vision, and a great work ethic. They are excited to be at college together and I am excited to have three more strong players join our squad."

Coach Clarke is looking forward to the 2009 season and despite losing five players from the 2008 team is confident her incoming class will be one of the strongest yet. "I have some offers still standing to some other very good players that will add to our program in many ways. I am excited about the talent we'll have in 2009 and am looking forward to the challenges of work towards our goal of a conference championship."
