Bulldogs remain on top

The Bulldogs hosted Union College on Saturday for a game that turned out to be a tougher win than what it looked like on paper. Tennessee Wesleyan came into the game at 13-9 while Union was 5-18. The Bulldogs quickly fell behind 15-7, before a 3 pointer from Shannon Smith, along with baskets by Desmond Crisp, Matt Harper, Quincy Scates and Michael Nicolo put the Bulldogs on top 22-17.
The Bulldogs were able to expand the lead to 41-27, but Union came back to remain behind by only 9 going into the locker room at half.
Desmond Crisp and Quincy Scates came out to score 17 and increase Wesleyan's lead by 15, 80-65. The deficit was trimmed to five, 93-88, before Matt Harper tipped it in with a minute to go to slow Union's comeback down.
Desmond Crisp led the Bulldogs with 26 points and 5 rebounds. Matt Harper had 20 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Quincy Scates also put in 20 points for the Bulldogs as well as six rebounds. Shannon Smith had 15 points, four assists and E'Jay Ward had six points, 10 assists and four steals.
The Bulldogs play at Point University on Tuesday at 7:30 pm and then return home to play against Bluefield on Thursday.
