Tennessee Wesleyan scored 61 in the first half against Milligan to take a 26 point lead before intermission. The Bulldogs went on to win the game 100-87, and gain a two game lead over Reinhardt University.
The Buffs of Milligan and the Bulldogs traded points for the first few minutes but after it was tied at 12, the Bulldogs began to break away with Shannon Smith and E'Jay Ward hitting 3 pointers, along with buckets from Josh Gregory and Quincy Scates to go on a 10-0 run.
Milligan came back in the 2nd half trading buckets with Tennessee Wesleyan most of the half, before the Buffaloes closed the game with a 17-4 run against the Bulldog bench.
Matt Harper, Desmond Crisp, Quincy Scates and E'Jay Ward combined to hit 31 of 45 field goal attempts in the game, including six of eight from 3-point range. Matt Harper and Desmond Crisp both netted 24 points. Harper was eight of 10 from the field, including four of five on 3-pointers, while Crisp hit nine of 13 shots. Quincy Scates tallied 21 points, while E'Jay Ward added 12 and 15 assists.
The Bulldogs play Maryville College tonight at 7:00 pm and then travel to Montreat on Wednesday for a 7:30 pm game.
