In a lacrosse match where the lead changed hands four times and was tied on six occasions, the Tennessee Wesleyan College women dropped their season-opener at Birmingham Southern on Saturday, 9-8.

Tess Sasse, Kimberly Leuthold and Marina Tharin each had two goals, while Michelle Scannell and Serra Kerley added one each. Rebecca Down had an assist and goalkeeper Nicolette Dungee recorded nine saves.

Wesleyan will host Midland College of Fremont, Neb., on Saturday, starting at 3 p.m.
