Wesleyan doubled their lead in the second when Jordan Guida and Dale Ricketts singled ahead of a two-run hit by Burnside. A pair of two-out errors gave Intermont new life in the third and led to two runs, leaving the Cobras trailing, 4-2. A walk and two-out double from Drew Levi in the third put TWC on top, 5-2.
The Cobras had two runners on with singles and one out in the fourth. The second out was recorded on a grounder to first and the runner was trapped off second, but TWC failed to get an out in the ensuing run-down with a run scoring. Wesleyan, however, responded with two more runs in the bottom of the inning. Thomas Sicking's double and singles from Burnside and Boix gave the Dogs a 7-3 lead. VI mounted a threat in the fifth, loading the bases with nobody out. An error, hit-batsman, walk, sacrifice fly and Stephen Branca's hit made it 9-3 after five innings.
