The Lady Bulldogs were able to find shots but struggled to get them to fall leading to the loss on Thursday against Hastings in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament. Both Hastings (Neb.) and Tennessee Wesleyan struggled through a low-scoring first half in which neither team shot better than 37.5 percent from the field. The Broncos warmed up just enough in the second half to pull away from the Bulldogs for a 57-43 victory.
Tennessee Wesleyan never could get on track offensively as it shot 5-for-28 (17.9 percent) from the field in the first half and 10-for-34 (29.4 percent) in the second half.
Michelle Davis was the only Bulldog to notch double-figures in scoring with 12 points. Cody Houck chipped in seven points and 10 rebounds. Also scoring was Heather Gibson with 8, Leah Frazier and Candace Cain who each put in 7, and Rochelle Davidson with 2.
The Lady Bulldogs were able to fulfill the preseason predication and win the regular season conference title. They were ranked 9th, their highest of the season in the Top 25 preseason poll. Landing at 13th in the last regular season poll allowed them an at large bid to the National Tournament for the third consecutive year.
Congratulations Lady Bulldogs on a great season.
