Tennessee Wesleyan hosted Trevecca Nazarene on Wednesday for a single nine inning game. Trevecca put the first run on the board, but the Bulldogs answered that in the second inning and never looked back defeating the Trojans, 9-6. Winning their 21st consecutive game, TWC is now 26-5.
The Bulldogs first got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd when Jake Stone reached base on a walk and then Taylor Oldham hit a 2 run home run. The second run came when Jordan Guida and Dale Ricketts were hit by a pitch followed by an error by Trevecca allowing Thomas Sicking to reach first. Travis Burnside reached first on a fielder's choice to score Guida. Jake Stone hit a home run in the bottom of the 3rd to give the Bulldogs the lead 4-2.
TWC extended their lead in the bottom of the 5th when Boix singled to right field, was advanced by a wild pitch and then Jake Stone hit a 2 run homer to deep right center. Taylor Oldham then singled to left and advanced to second on a passed ball allowing him to score when Jordan Guida singled to center.
Dale Ricketts started the 6th inning off with a double to left field followed by a single by Thomas Sicking to score Miles Allen, the pinch runner for Ricketts. Travis Burnside reached first on a fielder's choice, advanced to second when Anthony Boix grounded out, and then scored on a double by Stephen Branca. The Bulldogs led 9-3 after the 6th inning.
Trevecca tried to rally scoring 2 in the 7th and 1 in the 9th but it wasn't enough giving the Bulldogs the 9-6 victory.
Taylor Oldham had 3 hits including a homerun and 2 RBIs. Jake Stone had two hits both homeruns giving him 3 RBIs. Dale Ricketts and Stephen Branca both had a double for the Bulldogs.
Levi Dean got the win for the Bulldogs pitching 6 2/3 innings, striking out 7, walking one, and giving up 5 runs. Ben Crocker came in to get the save pitching 2 1/3 innings giving up one run and striking out 3.
The Bulldogs will play the University of North Alabama on Saturday, March 24th at 3:00 pm. The NCAA Division II Lions come to Jack Bowling Field with a record of 22-7.
