The Bulldogs swept the weekend series at Point University. The Bulldogs won 7-2 Friday and then 5-0 and 6-2 on Saturday.
In the single 9 inning game on Friday night, Thomas Sicking's leadoff single led to a 1-0 lead for Wesleyan in the first inning. Travis Burnside, Sicking and Jake Stone singled in a two-run third. Burnside's RBI hit made it 4-0 in the fourth; a walk and singles from Burnside and Sicking added a run in the sixth and a walk, Brackton Smith hit, Sicking single and sacrifice fly produced two runs in the eighth.
Jeremy Fitzgerald went 7 2/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits, while striking out 14 and hitting one batter. Alfonso Yevoli tossed 1 2/3 innings, surrendering one hit with four strikeouts.
Stone had four hits, two RBIs; Sicking three hits, two RBIs, two runs scored and Burnside three hits, one RBI, run scored. Tennessee Wesleyan had 13 hits, all singles.
Saturday started off with junior, Josh Cullers retiring 18 straight batters before allowing a leadoff single in the seventh and later walking a batter. Cullers finished with a one-hitter, struck out 10 and walked one.
The first of two Stephen Branca homers gave TWC a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Singles from Smith, Dale Ricketts and Anthony Boix made it 3-0 in the fifth. Branca and Taylor Oldham hit back-to-back solo home runs in the sixth. Wesleyan had eight hits.
The Bulldogs jumped on top in the final game with three first-inning runs on singles by Sicking, Boix, Branca, Oldham and Ricketts. Branca hit his third homer of the series in the third and added two runs in the fourth on singles from Burnside and Sicking, along with Stone's double.
Corey Rhoney went four innings, giving up one run on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Ben Crocker allowed one run on three hits in one inning; Zach Fleshman went one inning, allowing one hit and striking out two and Corey Collins tossed one inning, surrendering one hit, walking one and striking out one.
The Bulldogs had 12 total hits. Sicking had two hits, two runs scored; Boix two hits, run scored; Stone two hits, two RBIs and Branca two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Tennessee Wesleyan travels to number 3 Lee University on Wednesday for a 6:00 pm game. The Bulldogs won 8-7 when the Bulldogs met the Flames earlier in the season.
