The Bulldogs faced the number 8 ranked Southern Poly on Saturday in Athens, TN. After the first conference win on Wednesday, Tennessee Wesleyan was looking for a better result than the 4-0 defeat by the Hornets.
Southern Poly took the lead, 18 minutes into the game, when Emeka Maduka scored the first goal. A little over ten minutes later, the Hornets put in another and then with just under 5 minutes left in the half Maduka scored the third to take the lead 3-0 at the half.
Twelve minutes into the second half, TWC goalie, Clark Lydon came out of the box to meet a Southern Poly player who was moving forward with the ball. The slide tackle by Lydon resulted in a red card for him and left the Bulldogs down a player for the remainder of the game. Bogachan Akyildiz replaced Lydon in the goal and had 3 saves of his own, while only letting one ball pass to give Southern Poly their 4th goal.
TWC had nine shots, but none on goal, while Southern Poly fired 11 shots with seven on frame.
Both teams travel to Atlanta's Point University on Tuesday with the men playing at 3:30 and the women at 5:45 pm.
