It was a close game for TWC in their Conference opener against Bryan College in Dayton last night but the Lady Bulldogs pulled out a win in the last seconds.
Although never trailing by more than 6, Tennessee Wesleyan did not gain the lead until 27 seconds before halftime. Lauren Murr sunk a 3 pointer to take the lead by 1, 23-22, right before the half. The second half proved a little different with the lead alternating throughout until the very end. No more than three points separated the two clubs in the second half with the lead changing hands seven times and the score tied on four occasions, the last time coming at 43 with 35 seconds to play. A shot was missed by Jaryn Davis with 8 seconds left but Michelle Davis was there to get the offensive rebound and putback to go ahead by 2. Cody Houck managed a steal in the last possession by Bryan to give the Lady Bulldogs the win.
Wesleyan committed 18 turnovers and shot just 36 percent from the floor (16 of 45), including four of 17 on 3-point attempts. Michelle Davis finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. Alli Moreland came off the bench to add eight points for the Lady Bulldogs.
