The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Milligan College on Saturday in hopes of giving the Lady Buffaloes their first conference loss. Tennessee Wesleyan was 4-2 in the AAC while Milligan was leading the conference at 6-0.
The Lady Bulldogs came out of the gate quickly to get a 13-4 lead in the first five minutes over the Lady Buffaloes. Milligan scored 3 straight treys to cut the deficit to 18-13 midway through the first half, but the Lady Bulldogs answered that with an 11-0 run, to get their largest lead of the half. Milligan was able to cut the gap to 12 going into halftime at 34-22.
Nine minutes into the second half, Milligan was able to get within five of the Lady Bulldogs, and then within 3 at 43-40 with 8:43 left in the game. The Lady Bulldogs pulled away with a 9-0 run to take an 11 point lead with only five minutes left. Tennessee Wesleyan extended that lead to finish the game 57-44 over the Lady Buffaloes.
Tennessee Wesleyan finished the game 21-of-48 (44%) from the floor and 6-of-17 (35%) from behind the arc. Michelle Davis led the Lady Bulldogs with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Heather Gibson had 9 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for TWC. Courtney Gobble put 9 on the board for the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bulldogs improve to 5-2 in the conference and are tied for 2nd with Union College.
TWC will travel to Montreat on Wednesday, January 16th to play at 5:30 pm.
