Tyler Burse scored a game high 22 points for TWC, as the Bulldogs dominated the 2nd half to a 97-78 victory over Union College on Saturday. With the win, Tennessee Wesleyan improves to 9-1 in the AAC and remains on top.
The Bulldogs found themselves trailing 21-15 just over five minutes into the game. TWC made a few runs to slim the lead, but Union continued to hold on and were still up 35-32 with four minutes left in the half. The Bulldogs continued to work and was able to take the lead 44-41 with a minute left. A 3 by Union tied it up but Tyler Burse answered with his own trey to give the Bulldogs a 47-44 advantage going into the locker room.
The Bulldogs returned to the court for a very different second half. TWC started out on a 16-2 run in the first five minutes of the period. The Bulldogs extended the lead to 28 points, 84-56, with 10 minutes left in the half. TWC outscored Union 50-34 in the second half on their way to an AAC road victory.
Tyler Burse was 9 of 14 including 2 for 2 behind the arc to lead the four Bulldogs in double figures. Josh Williams recorded a season high 17 points. Desmond Crisp put in 16 points while Zamarius McLendon had 15 points and pulled down 8 rebounds.
The Bulldogs hope for a different result from previous in the season, when they host Point on Tuesday at 7:30 pm. The loss at Point on November 15th is Tennessee Wesleyan's only loss in the AAC.
