The Bulldogs traveled to Virginia Intermont on Wednesday looking for their 12 straight win. The Virginia Intermont Cobras had the 23rd ranked team in the country stumble a bit in the first half, taking a two point lead into the break, 38-36. However, Tennessee Wesleyan's nine three point baskets in the second 20 minutes of basketball led to a big half for the conference leading Bulldogs, as they defeated the Cobras, 101-88.
The Bulldogs trailed by as many as nine points in the first half, but battled back within two at halftime, 38-36. The Cobras continued to lead until a bucket by Zamarius McClendon evened the score at 45 with 15:57 to play and ignited a 12-0 TWC run. Tyler Burse had a pair of two-point baskets, Matt Harper drained a "3" and Desmond Crisp converted three of four free throws to put the 'Dogs on top, 55-45. Wesleyan widened the gap to 26 points, 91-65, on a bucket by Crisp at the 6:24 mark and VI never came closer than the final 13-point margin.
Burse paced the TWC offense with 25 points and collected 12 rebounds. Desmond Crisp tallied 21 points. E'Jay Ward had 14 points and seven assists, which was enough to put him over the 1,000 point mark. Zamarius McClendon netted 11 points (seven rebounds) and Shannon Smith 10 points.
The Bulldogs play host to the Buffaloes of Milligan College on Saturday for Senior day at 4:00 pm.
