ASHEVILLE, N.C. - E'Jay Ward
of Tennessee Wesleyan is the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
This is the first time this season Ward earned this award and the second time in his career, having received it in December of 2010.
The senior guard from Chattanooga, Tenn., averaged 14.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 3.5 steals on the week as the Bulldogs won both of their conference games. Ward shot 11-for-14 (78.6 percent) from the field and hit 4-of-7 (57.1 percent) from 3-point range for the week.
Ward got his 1,000th-career point in the game against Virginia Intermont. He is eighth in the country in steals (67) and 15th in assists (132).
For the season, Ward is averaging 8.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Tennessee Wesleyan is 20-7 overall and 13-1 in the AAC.
The next AAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week award will be announced Feb. 18.
