The Bulldogs traveled to Reinhardt University to play in the final game of the regular season and hoped for another win. TWC was able to get that win, 110-106, over the Eagles with the help of four Bulldogs scoring in double figures.
Zamarius McClendon converted a three-point play among 10 points; Desmond Crisp added seven points; and Tyler Burse had five points, including a trey, as the Bulldogs raced out to a 32-16 lead in the opening nine minutes. Reinhardt tried making a comeback but still found themselves down 40-25 before they went on a 8-0 run to cut the lead to seven. The Eagles crept back into the game closing the half down, 55-48.
Reinhardt continued to rally in the opening minutes of the second half, when they cut the deficit to three and then drained a 3 point to grab their only lead of the game 67-65. The Bulldogs would go on a 9-0 run to regain the lead, 74-67, before Reinhardt cut the lead back to one, 82-81. With 3:56 to go, the Bulldogs surged to an 11 point lead, 96-85. Reinhardt continued to make an effort to cut the score to 108-106, with 7.8 seconds left. After a foul by the Eagles, E'Jay Ward would put the game out of reach in the final five seconds, making both of his free-throws to close the Eagles out.
TWC went 38-of-74 for a 51.4 percent clip while Reinhardt connected on 39-of-81 for a 48.1 percent total. The difference came at the free throw line where TWC converted 23 of 25 second-half attempts and 30 of 36 for the game, while Reinhardt made 17 of 23.
Desmond Crisp paced four Bulldogs in double figures with 29 points, adding three assists and five steals. Zamarius McLendon netted 26 points and collected 10 rebounds; Tyler Burse 21 points, eight rebounds and Matt Harper 11 points. Ward had eight points, seven assists and six steals.
The Bulldogs will play in the AAC Conference Tournament on Thursday at 12:00 pm against the winner of St. Andrews and Montreat College.
