Kingsport, Tenn. (Feb. 21, 2013) --- No. 1 seed Tennessee Wesleyan overcame an early deficit and rolled to a 123-97 victory over No. 9 seeded St. Andrews University on Thursday afternoon in the MeadowView Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn. The Bulldogs advance to the semifinals where they will play No. 4 seed Milligan College on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Knights came out of the gate quickly as they built up a double-digit lead. However, Tennessee Wesleyan responded as they stormed back to take a 58-49 lead at the half. The Bulldogs controlled the game in the second half as they outscored the Knights 65-48 in the period.
As a team, the Bulldogs were 45-of-84 (54%) from the floor and 14-of-26 (54%) from the 3-point line. The Knights finished the game 36-of-73 (49%) from the field and 10-of-22 (46%) from behind the arc.
Zamarius McClendon had a game high 30 points and 12 rebounds, while Shannon Smith recorded 24 points for the Bulldogs. Also in double digits was Matt Harper with 16, Desmond Crisp 15, and Tyler Burse 12. E'Jay Ward had 6 points, 11 assists, and 6 steals.
