Corey Rhoney of Tennessee Wesleyan is the Appalachian Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday
This is the first week of the baseball weekly honors for the 2013 season, and this is the first time in his careers Rhoney has won their respective awards.
Rhoney, a 5-foot-9 senior pitcher from Valdese, N.C., picked up the victory in a 2-0 win over St. Andrews on Sunday. The right-hander tossed eight innings of shutout ball, allowing only three hits and one walk while striking out seven.
On the season, Rhoney is 2-0 with a 3.63 ERA. He has 21 strikeouts and seven walks in 22 1/3 innigns of work.
Tennessee Wesleyan is 14-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play
