ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Gad Azulay of Tennessee Wesleyan and Ekaterina Vezhenkova of Tennessee Wesleyan are the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.

This is the third week for the awards. Vezhenkova is a repeat winner, having won the award on March 18. This ia Azulay's first honor.

Azulay won both his singles and doubles match to help the Bulldogs to a 7-2 win over Benedict (S.C.). Playing No. 4 singles, he recorded a 7-5, 6-1 win. Azulay posted an 8-2 decision in doubles play.

On the year, Azulay is 7-3 overall in singles play and 8-2 in doubles.

Tennessee Wesleyan is 6-4 overall.

Vezhenkova won both her singles and doubles match last week, but it was not enough to help the Lady Bulldogs to victory as they lost 6-3 to AAC foe Columbia. She won her singles match 6-0, 6-1 and her double match 8-3.

She is 11-0 in singles play, only dropping one set all year. In doubles, Vezhenkova is 10-1.

Tennessee Wesleyan is 6-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

The next AAC tennis awards will be announced on April 8.
