Tennessee Wesleyan (ranked ninth) took on sixth ranked Emory University on Saturday. It was a close one all throughout the game but Emory just happened to score the game winner with two seconds to go in the game.
"We beat them in every category in the stat book, but the one that counts; the score."Coach Young commented "Next time we face them it won't be so close." The Bulldogs took an early lead in the first quarter leading 2 to 1and opened the gap even wider with a second quarter of 5 to 3. The second half Emory started to make their come back, scoring 3 goals to TWC's 1, making the third quarter score 6 to 5 TWC. The fourth quarter was back and forth. Emory had the lead with 20 seconds to go in the game up by one but a nice give and go between Blake Harper and Andrew Congleton tied the game up at 10. With 2.2 seconds in the game Emory scored the game winner and defeated the Bulldogs.
The offense was lead primarily by the attack with Elliot Woods, 3g 1a, and Joel Gossner, 2g 1a, but followed up in the midfield with Jon Montague, 2g, and Andrew Congleton, 2a. The defense was Kyle Howell, 6gb, and in goal by Ryne Owens, 6 sv, and John Lemoine, 5 sv.
