It was a hard fought battle on Wednesday in the Bulldogs home opener against Cumberland University but TWC came out on top with a 3-2 win in the second overtime. The freshman stepped up for the Bulldogs scoring all three goals.
Nduka Kemjika scored the first goal of the game off a pass by Theo Dweh, 12 minutes into the first half. Cumberland tied it up in the 23rd minute at one and the team headed to the half still tied. Ryan Ejezie's unassisted goal in the 67th minute again pushed TWC ahead. Cumberland came back to score in the 75th minute to knot the score at 2. With no one able to put the ball in the net by the end of regulation, the game went into overtime.
The teams battled through one overtime with each team getting shots off but having no luck. In the 103rd minute of the game, Jordan Jacob, with an assist by Garrett Koon, scored the golden goal to give the Bulldogs the win.
TWC's Clark Lydon got the win with eight saves and saw 21 shots from Cumberland.
The Bulldogs travel to Union College this weekend to play in the Thomas Trammell Memorial Classic on Friday and Saturday. They will play Southern Polytechnic on Friday at 2:30 pm and then Emmanuel College on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
