ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Josh Simnett of Tennessee Wesleyan and Ryan Ezejie of Tennessee Wesleyan are the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Simnett is the Defensive Player of the Week, while Ezejie is the Offensive Player of the Week.
Ejezie scored in both conference games this week including game winner and an assist against Bryan College who were ranked 21st in nation. He scored opening goal against Virginia Intermont College at weekend to take his goal tally to 9 on the season and tied for top scorer in conference. Also won penalty that lead to game winner against VI.
Simnett has been an immense player at the back this week against both Bryan (ranked 21) and VI. Against Bryan he dominated in the air and limited them to only 4 shots on goal making multiple tackles to prevent goal scoring opportunities. Against VI he was instrumental to helping team get second win on the week again allowing only 4 shots on goal.
This is the sixth edition of the weekly honor. The next players of the week awards will be announced on Oct. 21.
