The Bulldogs traveled to Embry Riddle this past weekend for the Mitsubishi Shootout. Wesleyan played competitive first halves in both games, but faded after intermission, losing to host Embry-Riddle on Friday and to Carroll College (Helena, Mont.,) on Saturday.
In a battle between two nationally-ranked teams in the NAIA polls, TWC (No. 20 in Division II) trailed Embry-Riddle (No. 3 in Division I) just 44-36 at the half, but couldn't keep up with the hot-shooting Eagles in the final 20 minutes, losing, 95-65, with the bench accounting for just two points in the game.
Andrew Scofield netted 18 points; Devante Jenkins 14 points, 11 rebounds and Dante Turnipseed 13 points.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 28-12 advantage at one point of the first half, but Carroll rallied to climb within six at the half, 34-28, and to overtake Wesleyan in the closing minutes, winning 65-59.
Devante Jenkins had 14 points with six rebounds and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Jeremy Davison and Tyler Burse had 11 points each and Shannon Smith nine points, six rebounds and two steals.
TWC returns to Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play at home on Tuesday tipping off at 7:30 against Milligan College.
