The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Union College on Wednesday hoping for a conference win after coming off a tough loss at Truett McConnell on Saturday. Although down 20-6 after the first eight minutes of the game, TWC made a comeback to win 58-48. The Lady Bulldogs defense was able to hold the Union offense which normally averages 70 or more points to only 48.
Tennessee Wesleyan trailed, 20-6, before Sarah McKinnon's layup at the 12:04 mark started the comeback. Shira Buley added a bucket and junior post Armeka Booker took over the game from there. Armeka Booker scored 13 straight points and Cody Houck's 3-pointer with 2:17 left in the half put TWC on top, 28-27. Kelsey Young's basket knotted the score at 30 going into the intermission.
After halftime, Union adjusted the defense to cover Armeka Booker, but Lady Bulldogs took over. Courtney Gobble's trey untied a 37-37 knot and the Lady Bulldogs would hold Union scoreless for almost eight minutes in a 15-0 run that saw scoring from Buley, Alli Moreland, Young and Booker. Houck and Moreland added treys as the Lady Bulldogs went on to post the 10-point decision.
Booker finished with 19 points and pulled down 18 rebounds. Houck added 14 points with six boards.
The Lady Bulldogs travel to Talladega College on December 10th for a 6:30 pm tip off in their final game before Christmas.
