The Bulldogs suffered their first loss to Union College since February 16,2011 on Wednesday night. Tennessee Wesleyan was defeated 78-70.
Devante Jenkins had nine points, but Union was on top, 25-11, before Wesleyan started the climb back with two free throws from Josh Williams. Jenkins had eight more points; Andrew Scofield and Tyler Burse hit 3-pointers; Williams added three more points and a bucket by Shannon Smith tied the score at 34. Turnipseed's basket allowed Wesleyan to lead at the half, 36-35.
Union erupted for 13 points to open the second half and the Bulldogs never recovered. Burse had 10 points and Scofield a pair of treys as TWC got within seven on several occasions, but no closer until Turniipseed's "3" in the closing minutes.
Jenkins netted 28 points and collected 12 rebounds. Burse tallied 16 points and Scofield 14.
The Bulldogs play this weekend in the Bryan College Tournament. On Friday they will play Southern Poly at 6:00 pm and then on Saturday at 4:00 pm they will play Southern Wesleyan.
