NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Wesleyan's Devate' Jenkins was named the Men's Basketball Player of the Week by the Tennessee Sportswriters Association on Tuesday after posting three straight double-doubles last week for the Bulldogs.
The freshman forward registered 28 points and 12 rebounds against Union College, hitting 13-of-18 shots in a road loss. The Cross, S.C., native recorded 12 points and 16 boards in a victory versus Southern Poly in a tournament at Bryan College on Friday. Jenkins added 23 points and 10 caroms in an 82-76 defeat against Southern Wesleyan the following day, making 11-of-15 shots.
He ranks in the Top 15 nationally in NAIA Division II in three categories, including fourth in field goal percentage (.687), seventh in total rebounds (123) and 15th in rebounds per game (9.462). Tennessee Wesleyan does not play again until January 2, returning to Appalachian Athletic Conference action at St. Andrews College.
