The Lady Bulldogs traveled across the river on Wednesday night to play Bryan College.  TWC came away with a 59-52 win over the Lady Lions.

Bryan started out strong offensively while Wesleyan struggled to make shots, but solid offensive rebounding allowed the Lady Bulldogs to stay even. Early three-point shots by Alli Moreland, Cody Houck and Shira Buley also helped as Buley's trey cut Bryan's lead to one point at 16-15 with 8:20 left in the half.  Armeka Booker then scored twice and Sarah McKinnon once before another trey by Buley tied the game at 24 with 2:06 left in the half. Bryan hit a late shot to take a 26-24 lead into the half.

The Lady Lions forged a 35-31 lead after about seven minutes into the second half before TWC went on a 15-2 run to take a 45-37 lead with 5:50 to play. Booker started off the run with a three-point play and she followed that up with a pair of buckets. The rest of the scoring came with a three-point shot by Courtney Gobble, two free throws by Kelsey Young and a bucket by Moreland.  TWC never trailed after that. Houck and Gobble were instrumental down the stretch as the Lady Bulldogs held on for the seven-point victory.

Booker led TWC with 14 points and 11 rebounds, including six offensive rebounds. Buley finished with 13 points and Houck had 11.

The Lady Bulldogs will host Virginia Intermont on Saturday at 2:00 pm.  You can watch live on or listen live on WLAR 101.7 if you can't make it.
