The Lady Bulldogs moved up in the standings after their win over the Bryan Lions on Wednesday. They hoped for the same on Saturday when they hosted Virginia Intermont. With good defense and the luck of Bryan beating Union, the Lady Bulldogs got what they wished for. TWC has moved up into first place with a 7-2 AAC record, same as Union and Bryan, but currently holding the tie breaker after having beat both of them.
TWC would never trail, but the game was tied at six before the Lady Bulldogs took over and defeated the Lady Cobras, 58-44. Alli Moreland started an 11-0 run with a "3". Shira Buley added a short jumper; Sarah McKinnon two free throws; Kelsey Young a driving layup and Armeka Booker converted a three-point play to put the Lady Bulldogs on top, 17-6. Buley drained back-to-back 3-pointers, pushing the score to 25-9, and the Lady 'Dogs were comfortably in front, 34-19, at the break.
Wesleyan's advantage shrank to 11 with 8:48 to play, but Booker and Buley led another 15-2 surge that iced the game.
Booker finished with 14 points. Buley netted 12 points and five assists and Houck 10 points and 14 rebounds.
The Lady Bulldogs host Point University on Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
