TWC hosted the Lady Eagles of Reinhardt University on Wednesday night for Mayfield Night. The Lady Bulldogs got their seventh straight win, 65-47, to remain at the top of the AAC.
The game was tied at 10, seven minutes in before the Lady Bulldogs went on a 14-2 run. Bailey Lyness started the streak with a three-pointer, followed by six points from Armeka Booker, three points by Madison McWilliams and a bucket from Courtney Gobble, putting TWC on top, 24-12. Cody Houck then nailed a "3" and Lyness had a second triple, padding the lead to 17, 34-17. Houck punctuated the half when she dropped in a 30-foot bomb at the intermission buzzer, opening a 39-19 gap.
TWC continued to pull away and held its biggest lead, 52-23, at the 10:53 mark. The Lady Eagles came back within 14 when the starters returned to the game. The Lady Bulldogs connected on nine of 15 three-point attempts and converted 12 of 15 free throws. Booker paced the Wesleyan offense with 14 points. Houck netted 12, while Shira Buley, Gobble and Lyness added nine each.
The Lady Bulldogs travel to Milligan College on Saturday for a 2:00 pm tip-off.
