Tennessee Wesleyan traveled to Point University on Saturday and defeated the Skyhawks; 88-81.
The teams traded points with the Bulldogs holding a slim two-point lead before ending the half on a 13-4 run. Tyler Burse and Devante Jenkins had four points each, Andrew Scofield sank a "3" and Shannon's Smith bucket accounted for the scoring and a 47-36 advantage. Point crept back and evened the score at 58 with 12:34 to play. Tyler Burse snapped the deadlock with a 3-pointer and the Bulldogs would not trail again with the biggest lead at nine points, 86-77, with 3:21 remaining.
All five starters posted double-figure scoring, led by Tyler Burse with 27 points and nine rebounds. Devante Jenkins had 21 points, seven rebounds, three steals; Andrew Scofield 14 points; Shannon Smith 12 points, six assists, six rebounds, three steals and Derek Hosey 10 points, four assists, four steals.
The Bulldogs will face Virginia Intermont on Thursday at 5:15 pm at the AAC Tournament in Kingsport, TN.
