The Bulldogs weekend conference series at St. Andrews University was moved to Sunday and Monday due to the weather. The Bulldogs took the series winning 2 out of 3.
In the first game on Sunday, the Bulldogs defeated the Knights 3-2. Brent Adheen gave up three of the hits and allowed a run in the second frame, but would hold the Knights to just two hits over the next four innings. Tennessee Wesleyan evened the score in the third when Wes Minton singled, took second on an error and later scored on a groundout. Wes Minton figured again in the scoring when he was hit by a pitch, moved to third on Shell McCain's double and raced home on a passed ball to put TWC on top, 2-1, in the fifth. The Bulldogs added what proved to be the winning run in the sixth. Matt Malloy singled to open the inning. Pinch-runner Branden Walker stole second, moved to third on an error and was plated by David Donald's sacrifice fly.
A walk, single and error brought the Knights within a run in the seventh. Another free pass loaded the bases with one out, but Adheen got a groundball, the defense turned into a 4-6-3 double-play to preserve the one-run victory.
Brent Adheen allowed two runs on six hits with nine strikeouts and two walks. Minton and Matt Malloy each had two of Wesleyan's eight hits.
The Bulldogs were defeated 1-2 in the second game of the doubleheader. Alex Pridemore ran into trouble in the third, allowing a run on a walk, single and wild pitch, but got a strikeout to leave the bases loaded.
TWC was held hitless until the fourth when McCain and Logan Dalton singled to start the inning, but the only run came on the second of two groundouts and a flyball ended the inning with the score tied at one. A walk and double gave St. Andrews the go-ahead run in the fifth before Brandon Landrie came on to get the final out and pitch a 1-2-3 sixth.
The Bulldogs had a two-out single from James Boddicker in the sixth and a one-out double by David Donald in the seventh, but could not find a way to get the tying run home.
Alex Pridemore allowed two runs on four hits with two strikeouts and five walks. Brandon Landrie didn't give up a hit and struck out one.
On Monday, the Bulldogs came back to get 11 runs in the first three innings and won by the run rule in the 7th inning.
Josh Clemen scattered six hits, struck out nine and walked only one batter.
The Bulldogs didn't waste any time giving Clemen a cushion to rest on, scoring five runs in the first inning. Shell McCain's leadoff single started the rally. James Boddicker singled him home and he scored on Matt Malloy's double. A walk and two-bagger from David Donald made it, 3-0.
Brad Carpenter's two-out single plated the final two runs. Tennessee Wesleyan added four runs in the second with hits from Wes Minton, Logan Dalton and K.J. Hockaday, along with two errors by the Knights. TWC completed its scoring with two runs in the third when Carpenter singled, followed by doubles from McCain and Boddicker.
St. Andrews had just one threat, but Clemen got a strikeout to leave two runners on base in the fifth. With Tennessee Wesleyan on top, 11-0, the game was called after seven innings under the 10-run rule.
Shell McCain led the offense with two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored. Boddicker had two hits, two RBIs, a run scored; Brad Carpenter two hits, two RBIs, a run scored; Donald a hit, two RBIs, a run scored and KJ Hockaday a hit, RBI, two runs scored.
