ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference released the bracket for the 2014 AAC Softball Tournament on Saturday, and Reinhardt is the No. 1 seed.
The Lady Eagles (37-8 overall, 17-3 AAC) finished one-game ahead of Milligan (20-15 overall, 16-4 AAC) to claim their fifth regular-season crown in a row.
As the regular-season champions, Reinhardt is the top-seeded team for the tournament, which begins Tuesday at Domtar Park in Kingsport, Tenn. The tournament is an eight-team, double-elimination tournament.
Here are the seeds for the tournament:
No. 1 - Reinhardt (37-8 overall, 17-3 AAC)
No. 2 - Milligan (20-15 overall, 16-4 AAC)
No. 3 - Virginia Intermont (26-18 overall, 13-7 AAC)
No. 4 - Bryan (25-20 overall, 12-6 AAC)*
No. 5 - Columbia (26-14 overall, 11-9 AAC)
No. 6 - St. Andrews (16-23 overall, 9-9 AAC)*
No. 7 - Tennessee Wesleyan (13-25 overall, 9-11 AAC)
No. 8 - Point (17-25 overall, 8-12 AAC)
*-The doubleheader between Bryan and St. Andrews was never played due to repeated rainouts. Per AAC Sport Policies, both teams are to count those games as losses for seeding purposes.
Play begins Tuesday with No. 4 Bryan taking on No. 5 Columbia at 11 a.m., which will be followed by No. 1 Reinhardt facing No. 8 Point at 1 p.m. At 3 p.m., No. 2 Milligan will play No. 7 Tennessee Wesleyan, and the day will conclude with No. 3 Virginia Intermont meeting up with No. 6 St. Andrews.
