The Lady Bulldogs came away victorious on Tuesday night after a back and forth battle with the RedHawks of Martin Methodist.
The Lady Bulldogs pulled ahead in the first game but Martin Methodist rallied to pull even at 21-21. Four straight points from Tennessee Wesleyan, however, gave the Lady Bulldogs an early 1-0 advantage.
In the second set, the two sides again struggled to find separation with neither team pulling ahead by more than three points. This time, it was the RedHawks who were able to grind out the win as they opened up a 23-20 edge and ultimately secured the 25-23 victory.
With two thrillers already in the books, somehow, the match's third set proved to be the most frenzied of the night as the RedHawks erased a 19-13 deficit to take a 24-23 edge and on the cusp of securing a critical two-set lead. The Lady Bulldogs rallied for three consecutive points to pick up the 27-25 win and put the pressure back on the RedHawks.
In the fourth and final frame, the RedHawks again battled out to an early lead but saw the Bulldogs score five of the set's final seven points to pick up the hard-fought victory.
The Lady Bulldogs are back in action tonight at Berea College at 7:00 pm.
