ATHENS, Tenn. – Tennessee Wesleyan College baseball coach Billy Berry announced the 2015 schedule this week, which features 29 home games, and three opponents ranked in the 2015 NAIA Baseball Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll.
The Bulldogs, ranked No. 23 in the Coaches' Preseason Poll announced last week, open the season January 31st at University of Auburn at Montgomery in Montgomery, Alabama. TWC will be at home for a thirteen game home stand starting February 7-8 vs. the likes of Campbellsville University, NAIA defending National Champion Cumberland University, Indiana Tech, Indiana University Southeast, and Taylor University. The Bulldogs will head back to Montgomery, Alabama to face 2013 NAIA National Champion Faulkner University for a mid-week game before returning home to close out the month in their first Appalachian Athletic Conference series against Point University.
The month of March will start with two games against Judson University and closing out the week with a three game AAC set at Reinhardt University. Tennessee Wesleyan will travel south for spring break to take on Northwood University and Ava Maria. They will conclude their trip against Embry Riddle then head home for Appalachian Athletic Conference action March 14-15 at Athens Insurance Stadium against Montreat. The final two AAC weekends of the month will be at home against 2014 AAC Tournament Champion Bryan College, and St. Andrews. Two big mid-week matchups with Mid-South Conference teams highlight the month against Lindsey Wilson at home on the 18th and at Cumberland University on the 31st.
April will see the bulldogs go on the road to face AAC foes Bluefield College, Truett McConnell, and Union College. Senior Day will take place the weekend of April 11-12 at home against Milligan College. During the mid-week of April the Dogs will host Faulkner University on the 8th and go on the road to Columbia, Kentucky to take on Lindsey Wilson on the 14th.
In all the Bulldogs will play five games against teams ranked in the Preseason Poll, Cumberland University, Faulkner University, and Embry Riddle. In addition the Bulldogs will play another ten contest against teams in the receiving vote's category of the Preseason Poll, including Campbellsville, Judson, Bryan, and Lindsey Wilson.
Two clubs on the schedule participated in the 2014 NAIA World Series – Cumberland University (2004, 2010, 2014 National Champions),and Faulkner University (2013 National Champion) – while five others played in the 2014 Championship Opening Round – AAC members Bryan College and Point University, Embry Riddle, and Judson.
