On Saturday April 25th 2009. the TWC Men's Soccer team participated in the Athens Day of Service, sponsored by the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Each year the Athens Day of Service aims to link churches, civic organizations, and government agencies to strengthen the local community through a service project which beautifies the community, builds friendships, helps those in need, and bolsters the spirits of the community as a whole.
This years goal was to assist in creek clean ups in and around Athens in an aim to prevent flooding in times of high rain. The Tennessee Wesleyan College Men's Soccer program was happy to get involved and help. The guys were anywhere from ankle to chest deep in creek water, clearing out anything from fallen trees to car tires, to telephone poles, to bicycles.
Because of how physical the work was our TWC group were given the toughest and dirtiest areas to work in and to their credit not one of our boys shirked a tough day's work. The boys are a credit to the Tennessee Wesleyan College Soccer Program and the College as a whole.
