The first 15 minutes of the Bulldogs vs Point Skyhawks went back and forth with the lead changing hands five times and the score tied on another five occasions, finally at 22 five minutes before the intermission, Wednesday night. Derek Triplett's three-point play untied the knot and Wesleyan would not trail again. Charles White followed with a trey; Dante Turnipseed and Leland Robinson netted four points each and Justin Simmons had a bucket to give the Bulldogs a 38-31 halftime advantage. The gap widened to 12, 49-37, with baskets from Stephen Kite Jr., Robinson and Turnipseed.
Point trimmed the deficit in half, 50-44, before the Bulldogs put the game away. Kite drained back-to-back treys; Turnipseed a "3" and Jenkins and White buckets in a 13-2 run and Wesleyan led, 63-46, with 10 minutes remaining. The Bulldogs defeated the Skyhawks 84-73.
Devante Jenkins paced four Bulldogs in double figures with 20 points and collected eight rebounds. Kite tallied 19 points, White 18 (seven assists) and Turnipseed 11. Robinson had nine points with eight rebounds.
Tennessee Wesleyan climbed into a three-way tie for fifth in the AAC standings at 8-8 overall and 4-5 in the conference.
The Bulldogs will host Montreat College on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
