Athens, TN: In an opportunity to expand the sport offerings at Tennessee Wesleyan College, Junior Varsity Men's Basketball will begin play in the 2015-16 athletic year. This addition will bring the total of junior varsity sports offered at TWC to three.
Head Coach of the Men's varsity program Mike Poe stated "Junior varsity basketball will give us the opportunity to bring student athletes in that we feel could help our varsity team out in the future, but need more seasoning and coaching to develop into the type of athlete that fits our system of play." JV basketball has been a program that Coach Poe has strived to add for several years now. "I have been asking our Athletic Director for the opportunity to get JV started here at TWC, and I'm thrilled to get the go ahead to begin play and give these young men a chance to come in to compete and develop into what we hope will be a great avenue to enhance our varsity program."
Former Bulldog basketball standout, John Ferguson, has been named the Junior Varsity Head Coach. Coach Ferguson is excited about being back on the TWC campus. "I have wanted to get into coaching since I graduated from TWC in 2008, and I was blessed to get the call from Coach Poe asking if I would like to join the TWC coaching staff. I am excited to get the team together and begin developing these student athletes' skills to aid our varsity team for the future."
