The Bulldogs pounded out 23 hits in round three of the AAC Tournament to defeat Milligan 17-2. With the win comes another matchup between the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan and the Bulldogs of Union College playing for the tournament championship at 5:00 today. Webcast for Championship GameThe Bulldogs added seven runs in the top of the first inning with 12 Bulldog batters coming to the plate. Brandon Munsey reached base on an error, then Matt Stanley doubled advancing Munsey to third when Alan Wimmer grounded out to second and Munsey scored the first run on the batted ball and Stanley advanced to third. Tyler Moyneur was hit by a pitch and stole to second, Eddie Van Es hitting the five hole singled to second scoring Stanley. With runners at second and third Gary Tucker singled to left and Moyneur scored. Brad Pippa singled to left and Van Es advanced to third and Tucker to second on the single. Batting 8th Drew Earl singled to center scoring Van Es, Tanner Quirk (pinch running for Pippa) advanced to third. Brandon Daggett bunted and reached on a base hit and Quirk scored. Stanley, his second at bat of the inning, singled up the middle scoring Earl. The top half of the inning ended with the Bulldogs scoring seven runs on seven hits leaving two on base.
Stanley singled to left for an RBI and Wimmer doubled to left-center scoring Munsey Stanley for two RBIs adding three more runs in the third to the Bulldog lead. In the top of the fifith two more runs were added when Earl doubled and Stanley singled up the middle to score Earl. Wimmer singled to third to advance Stanley. With two runners on Moyneur doubled to left -center scoring Stanley. The Bulldogs added one run in the sixth, two in the seventh and eigth. The one run in the sixth came when Pippa walked and Quirk (pinch running) scored when Munsey singled up the middle with two outs. In the seventh Van Es singled to center and advanced to second on a wild-pitch, Tucker tripled to left-center scoring Van Es. Another wild pitch from the Milligan pitcher scored Tucker. Daggett singled thru the hole at short batting 2nd in the eighth, Munsey singled thru the hole at second and Stanley singled to left to load the bases. With Moyneur at the plate and one out he reached base on a "bobble" and Daggett scored. Munsey scored the second run of the inning when Van Es singled up the middle. Tucker reached base on a fielders choice but Van Es was forced out ending the inning.
Gabe Rios was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs. Rios pitched six innings giving up three hits, no runs, two walks while striking out two. Jeremy Kimsey, Matt McCracken and Jason Ferguson worked one inning each in relief.
Munsey was 3-for-6 with 1 RBI, Stanley was 5-for-6 with a double and 3 RBIs, Wimmer 2-for-6 with a double and 3 RBIs, Moyneur was 1-for-5 with a double and 2 RBIs, Van Es was 3-for-6 with 2 RBIs, Tucker was 2-for-6 with a triple and 2 RBIs, Pippa 1-for-4, Earl 4-for-5 with a double and 2 RBIs, Daggett 2-for-6 with 1 RBI.
