After Round 1 at the NAIA National Men's Golf Tournament in Daytona Beach, Florida, the TWC Golf team shot 294 and find themselves tied for 6th going into day two. With a +6 on the day, the Bulldogs are 12 shots from the top as both William Woods and defending National Champion Coastal Georgia posted scores of 282.
Evan Ball led the Dogs in scoring with a two under par 70 and tied for 5th on the individual leader board. Travis Rodgers turned in a score of 73 and is tied for 25th. Other scores for the Dogs include Keoni Vidrine, 74 (T36), McKeehanon Rue, 77 (T 84), and Zak Acuff, 81 (T133).
With the team teeing off in the afternoon group of day one, Head Coach Mike Poe was proud of the team result and how the team battled through hot and humid temperatures to turn in a top ten score. Weather conditions favored the morning group as the scoring average was 75.96 compared to the afternoon scoring average of 76.76.
Last year, the Bulldogs had their best finish at the NAIA National Tournament placing 9th and are looking to improve on that result in this year's tournament. TWC will be back in action on Wednesday as the second round begins. The Bulldogs will be teeing off at 7:30 am paired with Wayland Baptist (Texas) and Northwestern (Iowa).
