Berea, Ky. - Led by a 9th-place mark from senior Jacob Simmons, the Bulldogs men's cross country team finished fourth overall in the five mile race at the Berea College Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Berea College.
Berea won the meet with 39 points, followed by Centre College (73), Bryan College (95), and Tennessee Wesleyan (96).
"Jacob had a good race on a very challenging course," Tennessee Wesleyan head coach Justin Herbert said. "For the freshman, this was their first time racing at this distance, and I think they all raced well."
"We were without freshman Christopher Gabez today, and once we get him healthy, I believe this team can put together a good performance come conference time."
Simmons crossed the finish line in 27:20 to lead the Bulldog squad, followed by freshman Will Vineyard, who was 18th with a time of 28:52.9. Freshman Dakota Ackerman followed behind Vineyard with a time of 29:28, finishing 22nd overall. With a 24th place finish, freshman Bryce Choate crossed the finish line with a time of 29:35. Rounding out the top five for the team was junior Tim Murphy. Murphy finished with a time of 30:28, finishing 36th overall.
Tennessee Wesleyan returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 3rd, as they head to Louisville, Ky. to participate in the Greater Louisville Classic.
