The Bulldogs hosted the Rams from Bluefield College on Wednesday night. They improved to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference with a 76-65 win over Bluefield.
TWC fell behind, 7-0, before drawing even at 11 on a bucket by Devante Jenkins. Tied again at 16, Leland Robinson put Wesleyan ahead to stay, 18-16. A three-point play by Trey Suttles and a Charles White basket opened a seven-point gap, 23-16. The Rams, however, twice closed within one before the Dogs increased their intermission advantage to eight, 40-32, on a buzzer-beating "3" from Suttles.
Jordan Hall and Suttles had 3-pointers as the lead grew to 10, 47-37, with 16:34 remaining. Bluefield began to chip away and was again within one, 58-57, but then missed a shot to take the lead. TWC's Robinson took over from there, scoring eight straight. Jenkins upped the advantage to 10, 68-58, with 3:58 to play and the Rams never threatened again.
Robinson paced the offense with 25 points, while pulling down a team-high 13 rebounds to go with four assists and two steals. Suttles netted 23 points, connecting on five 3-pointers, while recording six rebounds and two steals. Jenkins had 11 points, nine boards, three steals and White 7 points, six rebounds and five assists.
The Bulldogs travel to Reinhardt on Saturday to play at 4:00 pm.
