Birmingham, Al. – Tennessee Wesleyan College men's track and field team competed this past Sunday (the 24th) at the Emory Crossplex Invitational, where the team finished 9th overall in the collegiate division standings.
The highlight of the evening was a victory and a national qualifying 'A' standard by the distance medley relay team. The returning All-American distance medley relay team secured their spot to NAIA Indoor Track and Field Nationals with a finishing time of 10:19.35. Currently, that time places them second in the nation among NAIA schools. The relay team consisted of freshman Christopher Gabez, sophomore Jake Morgenstern, freshman Bryce Choate, and senior Jacob Simmons.
Other notable standout of the meet came from sophomore Cadarius Harris in the collegiate 60-meter dash. Harris finished 2nd overall in the event, with a finishing time of 6.95.
In his first event as a Bulldog, freshman Isaiah Woodruff set a new school record in the triple jump. Woodruff finished 9th overall in the collegiate division with a jump of 12.26-meters.
Already hitting a national qualifying standard in the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore Chaz Hawkins finished 7th overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.90.
The Bulldogs will take a weekend off before heading to East Tennessee State University for the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational. The meet is scheduled to start at 9:45 AM on Friday, February 5th.
