Johnson City, Tenn. – Tennessee Wesleyan freshman Bryce Choate had a standout meet, setting two school records and earning a top-10 finish this past weekend (Feb. 5-6th) as the Bulldogs competed at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational, hosted by East Tennessee State University.
Choate's first school record was in the 400-meter dash. Choate finished 22nd overall with a finishing time of 50.58, beating the previous school record by almost two seconds.
The second school record Choate helped set came in the 4x400-meter relay. Along with sophomore Chaz Hawkins, sophomore Jake Morgenstern, and junior Sheldon Wilson, the relay squad finished 15th overall with a time of 3:25.00.
To top off his stellar weekend, Choate finished 10th overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.89. His finishing time puts him third all-time on the school indoor 800-meter list.
Tennessee Wesleyan returns to action on Friday (Feb. 12), as a select group of athletes head to Birmingham, Alabama to participate in Samford University's Track and Field Invitational hosted at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The whole team will return to action on Saturday (Feb. 20) to participate at the UCS Invitational at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
