The Bulldogs traveled to Milligan College on Monday to play against the Buffaloes. Milligan has been the Bulldogs only loss this season when they faced them at home on November 18th. Monday night was a different story for the two teams. The Bulldogs took an early led and never looked back. The Bulldogs defeated the Buffaloes, 87- 64. TWC is now 14-1 in the AAC and 22-1 overall. They are hanging on to the top spot, but will face Union, the team right behind them, on Wednesday night at 7:30 pm.
Leland Robinson had four points and Matt Brown a bucket as the Bulldogs scored the first six points and would never trail in the game. A triple among seven points by Charles White helped open an 11-point gap, 17-6. The teams traded baskets from there and the Bulldogs went into the halftime break on top by 12, 43-31.
Baskets by Robinson and Trey Suttles widened the margin to 16 points, 47-31, early in the second half. The Buffaloes crawled back within nine, 58-49, at the 14:05 mark before White converted a free throw, Suttles scored inside and added a free throw and Tre Tiller drained a short jumper, pushing the lead back to 15. Suttles drained a trey with 6:55 remaining as the margin rose to 18 and Wesleyan cruised from there.
Wesleyan out-rebounded Milligan, 43-32, and the defense created 19 turnovers, while committing only 10 turnovers. The only flaw in the overall effort was going 17-of-31 at the free throw line.
Suttles led the offense with 22 points, adding six rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots. Robinson netted 21 points and collected a game-high 14 rebounds. White had 15 points, three steals and Tiller 12 points, six boards and four assists.
