The Bulldogs hosted #8 Lindsey Wilson on Wednesday, and hung on for a 6-5 win.
Chris Washington started for Wesleyan, allowing single runs in the third and fourth, while giving up seven hits and striking out two over five innings. The Bulldogs scored twice in the second on a single from Alfred Cruz, Omar Gomez's double and a sacrifice fly. Tennessee Wesleyan added a run in the third on an RBI single by Sully Rios Reyes. Villafana homered for a 4-2 lead in the fourth. Austin Goss surrendered a run in the sixth. The Bulldogs made it 6-3 in the seventh when Malik Stephens singled, Ward Polanco doubled and Reyes singled. Only a climbing-the-wall catch for a Cruz drive prevented further damage. Danny Guido and Reed Bright both pitched in the Blue Raiders' eighth, each allowing a run.
Dillon Dove pitched the ninth and was backed by Villafana's game-saving play at first. Villafana had made another run-saving play in the eighth, digging a throw out of the dirt to end the inning.
Both teams had 13 hits. Barrios, Polanco, Reyes, Cruz and Villafana had two hits each. Reyes and Villafana each drove in two runs.
Washington picked up the win and Dillon Dove got the save.
