The 2016 All-Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Team and Awards were announced Thursday at the AAC Tournament Banquet, and Taylor Barganier of Tennessee Wesleyan is the Player of the Year.
Other individual honorees included, Paige Falkowski as the Defensive Player of the Year. With a perfect 8-0 conference record, Tennessee Wesleyan is the regular-season champion.
Barganier earned Player of the Year honors after tallying 49 goals and dishing out seven assists this season. She posted an impressive 50.5 shooting percentage, scoring 49 goals on 97 shots. In addition, Barganier netted 14 power-play goals and registered four short-handed tallies.
Falkowski spent nearly 794 minutes in goal for Tennessee Wesleyan, recording 107 saves.
Making the Champions of Character Team is Lauren McHugh of Tennessee Wesleyan. In all, 40 student-athletes were named to the All-Academic Team with Columbia leading the way with nine honorees.
