After the Lady Bulldogs win over Truett McConnell yesterday in the semi-final round, TWU faced Bryan College this afternoon in the finals of the AAC Championship.
The Lady Bulldogs dominated the first half, with several shots that were right on target but just narrowly missed the net. The game was scoreless at the half.
TWU came out ready to score in the 2nd half, but it wasn't until a foul was called on Bryan when the player was pulling on Broderick's shirt to hold her back from scoring in the box. The ref awarded a penalty kick for the Lady Bulldogs that was taken by Amy Panayi in the 52nd minute. The goal reenergized Tennessee Wesleyan who looked for an insurance goal.
In the 84th minute, Nicole Broderick took a pass from Heidi Bulter and drove past the goalie to lay one in the net.
The Lady Bulldogs held on defensively for 6 more minutes to win 2-0 over the Lions of Bryan College.
McKenna Loges spent all 90 minutes in the goal for the Lady Bulldogs and had five saves.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs advance to the NAIA National Tournament. TWU will find out where and who they will play on Monday, November 14th at 12:00 pm EST/11:00 am CST.
