After the Lady Bulldogs trailed 11-0 to Union on Tuesday night, they came back to win 71-62 to increase their conference record to 5-3.
After the starting five trailed by 11, in the first four minutes of the game, a new five hit the floor to score 11 and trail by only three at the half. Points came from a "3" from Summer Morris and a pair of Kenzie Conn buckets, and baskets by Lindsey Macon and Hannah Troutt. The Lady Bulldogs erupted for 21 second quarter points, led by Morris with six; a trey from Troutt and four points from Savannah Atkins to lead 32-28 at the intermission.
Tennessee Wesleyan continued to pull away in the third period, opening a 20-point gap, 56-36. Morris had a 3-pointer among seven points, while Hunter Simpson and Conn added four each. Union started to come back, slicing the deficit to four with 42 seconds to play. Lindsey Macon and Hunter Simpson then converted five of six free throws to seal the decision.
Morris was the only Lady Bulldog in double figures with 16 points. Hunter Simpson, Gina Dick and Kenzie Conn had eight each, while Macon had seven and Madison Walkup, Atkins, Rachel Simbeck and Troutt added six each. Walkup also collected eight rebounds.
The Lady Bulldogs travel to Allen University to play tonight at 5:30 pm.
