The Bulldogs were defeated in overtime on Wednesday night by the Rams of Bluefield College, 81-73.
Justin Simmons had a bucket and Johnson Decembre six straight points as the Bulldogs stretched a 13-12 lead to 21-12. The teams traded baskets until buckets by Tre Tiller, Simmons and Q.D. Cox widened the gap to 15, 41-26. The three-point play by the Rams closed the half with TWU on top, 41-29.
The advantage was trimmed to two in the first five minutes of the second half and the Rams slipped in front, 50-49, with 7:53 to play. Tennessee Wesleyan found itself down 62-57 with 2:16 remaining and Tiller on the bench with five fouls. A pair of Kenny Dean free throws and trey from Aundre Reid knotted the score. Dean followed a Bluefield miss with two more from the charity stripe and the Bulldogs led 64-62 with 37 seconds to play. The Rams tied it back up and TWU missed the final second shot sending the game into overtime.
Two Aundre Reid free throws tied the game again at 70, but the Rams then went on a, 10-0, run to claim the victory over the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs will travel to Truett McConnell on Saturday to play at 4:00 pm.
